Programme

The title of the EFPW-2018 is “The breeding blanket - the link between the plasma, tritium and electricity”.

The STAC has agreed on the following session topics and proposed Session Chairs:

• Plasma Blanket Relationship - Mattia Siccinio (EUROfusion)
• Breeding blanket design and strategy - Lorenzo Boccaccini (KIT)
• Blanket interaction with the overall tritium fuel cycle - Christian Day (KIT)
• Materials issues for blankets - Lorenzo Malerba (SCK-CEN)
• Balance of plant and safety relationships to the blanket - Luciana Barucca (Ansaldo Energia)

Please note that this workshop is far from a Breeding Blanket design meeting, but an exploration of the ways in which the plasma, materials, tritium cycle and balance of plant interact with the blanket and affect the blanket design, and thus how the situation can be optimised. It will naturally also cover issues internal to the blanket design, and a session is devoted to that.

The workshop should provide a comprehensive picture of the strategy and technical issues, and the talks and discussion should explore solutions and opportunities, triggering new actions where needed.
